About me

Picture
I am a Director and Choreographer with an interest in storytelling through integrated art forms, specialising in movement and music theatre.  In 2018 I co-produced, and participated as a choreographer in the 'Dance Story' workshop at the National Theatre Studios. We brought together six writers and six choreographers to explore story telling with movement as the lead art form. My participation in ‘Dance Story’ fuelled my passion to investigate how we use physical language to create imaginative and thought provoking narratives.
I approach every production I work on by interrogating the narrative I am working with, to identify how physical language can support, compliment and enhance the story.  A collaborative approach to choreography and directing is fundamental to my process; responding to elements introduced by the rest of the creative team and discovering the language of the physical narrative with the performers.

I believe as a theatre maker I have a responsibility to respond to, and investigate, the challenges that we face in society.  I am a trained life coach with a keen interest in psychology and philosophy. I am passionate about developing work that tackles current themes in a consumable and innovative nature to reach a wide and disparate audience.

I have worked in various creative capacities across the arts as well as within production teams as a crowd 3rd AD, production assistant and videographer.  I have a keen eye for detail and extensive experience managing and directing actors, dancers, musicians and background performers.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Picture
I have recently become a certified FRCms (Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist).

'Functional Range Conditioning (FRC®), is a system of joint health optimization based on scientific principals and research.'

'There are three main training-goals when utilizing the FRC® System...
Mobility Development
Joint Strength
Body Control'

I will be incorporating FRC® principals into my teaching, movement coaching, and choreography practice, to encourage a safe and sustainable approach to movement.

In 2021 I completed a research and development period  funded by a ‘Developing Your Creative Practice’ grant from the Arts Council England. This has given me the opportunity to investigate Biomechanics, Kinesiology and a wide range of physical disciplines in order to both inform my artistic voice, and to develop an approach to movement that encourages a safe and sustainable performance practice.
